Field Trip Feedback

(picture coming!) Well... I had fun. Geomorphology & city history at MacMillan Creek, soil & surface analysis at the base of the cutbanks, and local history at Cottonwood Island. What did you think, find, learn or discover? What questions do you still have? Suggestions for next time?

  1. I think one of the things I learned is that if I ever decide to analyze dirt and clay again, I shall bring along some moist towelettes with me. It is a royal pain to wash one's hands with just a bottle of water.

  2. Being outside in the sun was nice, for sure a lot better than being cooped up in a dull classroom all day. My favorite part, aside from climbing the cutbanks and getting my hands dirty, was learning about the human cultural history that was tied to the geography of P.G.. Suggestions for next time, don't stand around at MacMillan Creek for so long talking-- frankly, most of us don't have very long attention spans, and with so much outside to destract us you should keep it short and sweet. Questions... I was curious to know how long it would have taken for the glacier which formed the "P.G. bowl" to leave the area. In other words, how long was the glacier here for in order to have created the surrounding geographic features? Anyhow, I had fun on the field trip, and would say it was a success.

  3. Yesterday was pretty sweet. I learned how to kill a man with my bare hands... oh wait, that was after school. the cultural history of prince george was pretty interesting. over 700 mills is quite a bit eh? for future field trips, a trip to the eskers would be pretty fun (maybe a day trip on a saturday, and we can go fishing, i just want to go fishing lol) either way, theres some pretty neat stuff out there.

  4. I had fun running around outside and learned alot. However i think we spent to much time talking about things that we already learned in class. The cultural georgaphy was really interesting but the talking about the kinds of rock just seemed piontless.

  5. It was a very interesting experience. I didn't realize how much we shape the land even living a primitive lifestyle (native people). It was very interesting to learn some parts of prince george were under water even when you were alive. I was also blown away that there was a reserve in the middle of prince george. It was also nice to have a change from the regular routine of the classroom.

  6. that feild trip was very fun and educational. there was a bit to much talking at the first stop unfortunatly, not to many people can pay attention that long. but it ws still fun to do that then spend the day in a classroom.

  7. As much as I love field trips I got rather bored at the first stop because we were standing around talking for too long. I have a short attention span and i cant listen for that long. But i must say I like to climb things so the analyzing of dirt was quite fun! but i would definalty say that there should be more field trips! I like field trips!
