Welcome September 2007

Ahh, a freshly made batch of Geography students!!! Please, feel free to leave a comment here on one of two topics:

1. What do you think of Lovelock's Gaia Hypothesis? Read about it HERE if you need to. Do you think the Earth is a living system capable of managing its own survival? Do we have a duty to protect, respect, or restore the earth?

2. Share your issues research here... of course, you may also submit it to the teacher's hand-in folder (written/audio/video formats).

  1. This is Kelvin Smeele. My issues research assignment is at

    Global Warming

Global Warming is a very serious problem in and around the world today. It is only going to get worse day by day if our generation doesn’t do anything about it to fix this problem that we are having the earth will be destroyed.

Global warming refers to the increase in the average temperature of the Earth’s near surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation. Global warming is happening because of the emissions and gasses from the people in the world. Global warming is making the temperature of the earth warmer making the ice from the north and south pole to melt making the sea levels to rise and eventually submerging cities on the coast and even countries.

Global warming is a concern for the young generation because it could happen in our time so we have to help or prevent it from happening. There are many ways of preventing global warming couple of them are to use a fuel efficient car or hybrid, use recyclable paper, buy minimal packaged goods, insulate your water heater, unplug unused electronics there are many other ways of preventing global warming at

I think that global warming is the most serious problem around the world, not the war in Iraq, not the war in Afghanistan but global warming. We do not have that much time but the world has to fight together and change what they are doing to resolve this issue of before you not it there will be not no Iraq or Afghanistan because it could be eventually under water.
